The installation of metal lighting poles is different from the installation of poles made of other materials. Since this type of work is classified as dangerous, safety precautions and a number of requirements prescribed in SNiP 3.05.06-85 and the Electrical Installation Rules (PUE) are required. All organizations that install or dismantle poles are required to comply with a number of requirements:

1. All equipment must be in good working order and tested. There is an approved procedure that prescribes the timing of inspections for aerial platforms, cranes and other special equipment. Therefore, you can only use the equipment with which work is allowed.
   During installation, only special equipment with appropriate approvals is used.
2. The order should appoint those responsible for compliance with safety regulations. Each facility has a specialist who controls the progress of work and is responsible for the result. He manages the process, employees and coordinates all work.
3. Only persons may be allowed to work appropriately trained and licensedif they are required. Minors and those who do not have mandatory training should not be involved in the installation.
4. Employees must attend daily safety briefings. Other briefing logs are also maintained, which are filled out on time.
5. Usually, a medical commission is required for suitability for installation work. If the validity period of the certificate has expired, the person cannot work.

Important! If a lantern is installed in the yard or in the country, then you can carry out the work on your own, subject to the requirements of electrical safety. To commission the equipment, it is most often necessary to invite a specialist from the supervisory organization.

How the work is done

Installation of lighting poles can be done in two ways, depending on the type of poles and the chosen technology. The methods are suitable for both steel and composite supports, which are placed in a similar way.

How to install flanged lighting poles

Before starting work, you need to prepare a place for their implementation, there should be no interference in order to prevent danger to others. If there is paving stone on the surface, it must be carefully removed, the asphalt coatings are cut and removed. As for the technology, it is like this:

1. First of all, you need to dig a hole at least a meter deep, most often it is made deeper.The work can be done both manually and by machinery, it all depends on the number of poles to be installed. The shape of the pit can be either square or round, there are no strict restrictions.
2. The bottom of the pit is leveled, a pillow of sand and gravel is made on it, which should be leveled and well tamped. Then a special monolithic reinforced concrete block is placed, on which anchor studs with finished threads are located for further fastening the supports. At this stage, it is necessary to set the block correctly so that it is at the required level and is located exactly relative to the vertical and horizontal planes.

3. If there is no ready-made module, a self-made one is made from reinforcement. The frame is welded to the size of the pit, in the upper part of which bolts or studs are fixed, onto which the pole will be screwed. It is important to set it correctly, the position is easiest to adjust by adding a gravel cushion at the bottom of the pit.
4. Then the entire space is filled with concrete of a suitable grade, it is always spelled out in the project documentation. It is important to do this in one go to get a monolithic element with the highest possible strength. If the temperature is below zero, use a solution with special additives.
   Before pouring the structure with concrete, you need to remove the electric cables.
5. Concrete must gain strength before continuing work, usually it takes 5 days. Next, the installation of flanged lighting poles is carried out, combining the mounting platform with the previously installed studs. For fastening, special nuts for cotter pins are used, which can be fixed after the connection is tightened.
   The level during installation of outdoor lighting poles with a flange is controlled using laser equipment.

The option is good in that if the post is damaged or it needs to be replaced, this can be done in a matter of hours by removing the old element and installing a new one in its place.

How to install upright supports

This technology is an order of magnitude more complicated and is used for large, heavy products. To perform the work, a special drilling rig is required, or it is done using a crane. The work is done like this:

1. The location of all the pillars is determined and marks are placed or other landmarks are made in the right places. The work is carried out using a drilling machine, which is positioned exactly on the mark. Typically, the minimum drilling depth is 120 cm, but the hole can be much deeper if necessary for reliability. The drilling diameter is always larger than the diameter of the bottom of the post.

2. After drilling is completed, it is necessary to install a pole, for this any suitable equipment is used. The work is carried out by several installers, since it is necessary to set the pole perfectly evenly in all planes. After installation, the element is fixed in the desired position using pieces of reinforcement of suitable thickness and a welding machine. It is important to ensure a stable position, since for some time the post will only stand on reinforcing supports.
   When installing upright supports, they are fixed in the desired position with welding equipment.
3. All voids around the post below ground level are filled with concrete mortar. To fill the space and prevent the formation of air bubbles, the concrete is compacted with a special vibrating machine, the nozzle of which is lowered to the very bottom of the pit. The better the compacted concrete, the higher the reliability of installation.
4. The installation of lampposts is completed after the concrete has hardened and gained initial strength, this happens after 5 days. Previously welded supports are dismantled, after which further work is carried out to connect the system and commission it.
5. Wiring can be routed in two ways. The easiest way is to run the cable through the air, fixing it on poles and connecting it to each lamp. But you can also use the underground connection method, in which the cable is laid in a prepared trench at a depth of 120 cm, using a plastic or asbestos pipe for this. In this case, the cable is brought out to the base of each support and is led up through the cavity inside.

Mandatory requirements for work

The installation technology must be carried out strictly according to the regulations, while there are also a number of other requirements for which work should be carried out. Any violations can lead to fines or even a ban on work, so you need to follow a few recommendations:

1. The necessary project documentation is preliminarily prepared, this is usually done by individual organizations or the design department, if there is one in the company. After preparing the project, it must be approved by the organization that controls the installation work.
2. If you need to get permission to work, you need to do all the paperwork in advance. Especially when the installation is carried out near the road and it is necessary to occupy the carriageway or block the footpaths.
3. Often, the presence of a specialist from the supervisory authority is necessary, in which case it is impossible to start work without him.If during the work problems are found in the form of loose soil or other deviations, the technology must be changed to ensure the reliability of installation.
