The penalty for certain colors of strobe lights is significant enough that many drivers believe that installing them is illegal. In fact, there are a number of nuances, the knowledge of which will allow you to avoid deprivation of rights and receive the minimum possible penalty, or even do without a fine.

Is it possible to put strobe lights on the car

To understand, you need to study several points of the Code of Administrative Violations. For simplicity, it is worth disassembling two of them that directly relate to strobe lights:

1. Paragraph 3 states that it is forbidden to install any lighting or retroreflective equipment with red lights on the front of the car. This also includes all other devices, the mode of operation and the color of which do not comply with the Regulations on the admission of vehicles to traffic. It should be noted here that all additional light sources that are not provided by the manufacturer are a violation. The penalty for this violation is confiscation of equipment and deprivation of the right to drive vehicle for a period of 6 to 12 months.
   For this option, they are deprived of rights almost always.
2. If devices for giving special sound or light signals are installed on the car without the appropriate permission, they will also be confiscated. BUT the period of deprivation in this case will increase and will be from one year to one and a half. But it is worth noting that only light sources of certain colors belong to special signals, so not all types of equipment can be punished under this item.
   The size of the strobe lights does not matter, even small elements will cause disqualification.

Based on the mode of operation of the strobe lights, which flash several times per second, then they all violate the requirements of the law. But at the same time, there is no direct indication of this type of device, so the interpretation of the legislation may be different.

What are the fines for a stroboscope

It all depends on the situation and the color of the installed strobe lights. Based on current practice, the following options can be distinguished:

1. If the violation is not gross and the lighting device is white or of another color that is not related to special signals, a fine may be imposed for violating the rules for using lighting devices, it amounts to 500 rubles.
2. When using red lights, as well as devices whose mode does not comply with the Admission Rules, the fine will be 3,000 rubles for an ordinary driver and from 15,000 to 20,000 for officials. And if the violation is committed by a legal entity, the amount will increase and range from 400 to 500 thousand.

How to use it correctly so that you do not get fined

If you need to arrange everything according to the law, you will have to spend a lot of time. To use strobe lights related to special signals, you need to do the following:

1. Contact the nearest traffic police department and clarify all the features of registering a stroboscope. At the same time, find out if it is possible to use them in a particular situation.
2. Next, a package of necessary documents is prepared and the type of equipment and its location are agreed upon. After passing all the necessary procedures, a special permit is issued.

The certificate is issued for a specific person and only he can drive a car with additional equipment.

It is almost impossible for the average driver to get one. Therefore, there are no legal options for using strobe lights.

Who can ride with a strobe light

Several categories of transport can put strobe lights on a car; for simplicity, they are divided into 3 types. Each of them differs in color and application features:

1. First type. These include red and blue lights, you can put them on police cars and some other categories of transport. Drivers are required to give way to vehicles with such lights, which is why they cannot be put on ordinary cars and the largest fine and deprivation of a driver’s license is provided for this violation.
2. Second type. These are flashing beacons and strobe lights in yellow and orange. They do not provide any advantage, but they warn other road users of the danger and attract attention.Fines are also imposed for their use, but rights are most often not deprived. And drivers of vehicles equipped with such devices can be fined for not turning them on while working or transporting children.
   Special signals have the right to use only the corresponding services.
3. Third type. This includes white signals, most often used by the collection service, postal transport and cars carrying valuable goods. They do not provide any benefits and do not require registration during installation. Most often, this option is not fined, in some cases the penalty is 500 rubles - for violations of the rules for using lighting devices.

Variants of the third type are used at their discretion, drivers of vehicles equipped with them include it at will.

How to get away from punishment

It should be noted right away that if traffic police inspectors find red and blue strobe lights, it is unlikely that they will be able to negotiate with them. Almost always in such a situation, the driver loses his license, it is better not to break the law and choose neutral white options.

It is worth turning off the equipment if a police car or a traffic police crew is driving towards you. Any stroboscope is a violation, so if the car was not stopped several times, this does not mean that everything is legal. It is recommended to install appliances so that they are not visible or conspicuous. One of the options is installation in the cabin, if the color is white, the driver does not violate anything, since in the Code of Administrative Offenses there is an indication only of the lighting equipment located in the front of the machine.
